President's Letter, July 2026

Heavenly Father, I want to give my whole life to you yet I am afraid of what you might ask of me. Extend your hand so I can overcome my fear of the unknown. With you at my side, I will find the courage to launch out into your deep and let the shoreline go.

Dear Presidents and Members:

Annual Meeting, August 15: The Annual Meeting will be on Saturday, August 15^th 9:30 AM to 3:00PM. Registration will begin at 9:00. The Ladies of Charity of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish will host us at Saint Thomas a Becket Church at 139 Gill Hall Road, Jefferson Hills, PA.

There will be a light breakfast and lunch served. A mass will be celebrated by Fr. James Gretz with installation of new officers to the ALCDP Board.

Jennifer Ploskina will be our speaker from Auberle and we would like to contribute personal and feminine hygiene products and gift cards from major chain stores that day.

We will also have several gift baskets to raffle off and a 50/50 raffle. Please bring posterboards, trifolds, and books to highlight your organization’s activities. There will be tables set up for these displays.

The registration form will be sent out this week, and you should return your check made payable to Association of Ladies of Charity, Diocese of Pittsburgh or ALCDP for $20.00 and mailed to the address on the form. Do not send to the Diocesan office address.

We will also be presenting the “25 Year Medal” Award to all those recipients in attendance. If you are unable to attend, your medal will be given to your president to present to you at a later date. Thank you for all your years of service to the Ladies of Charity. You will receive an invitation to attend.

By-laws:

Attached you will find copies of previous ALCDP and local parish by-laws, along with the updated versions of both. We will be voting on these new by-laws at the Annual Meeting. Please share them with all your members so everyone is aware of the changes. Things highlighted in yellow are where the changes are to be made.....Inserting your parish name, etc. Items in red are minor changes to be made. If you have any questions before the meeting, please let me know. 724-969-4190.

The Spiritual Society of the Unclaimed Dead:  
If you are interested in receiving a decedent’s name, please contact Mary Jane Jurofcik at our LOC office 412-456-6924. Mary Jane will be  available at the meeting between 9AM and 11AM if you would like a name of an Unclaimed Soul.

Nursing Home Network:
Please remember that if you have someone that is going to a nursing home outside of your area to contact Cindy Smith so that she can reach out to the local Ladies of Charity to visit. Call LOC office at 412-456-6924.

501(C)(3):
Below is the updated distribution information for the quarterly submission of Treasurer Reports and Bank Statements. The deadline for reporting is March 15 for the months of December, January and February. Updated sales tax exemption forms are available by contacting Judy Weismann at weismann2@comcast.net. Also, please consider joining the 501C3 team by inputting data into QuickBooks. Contact Judy if you would like to begin a training session.

Dates to Remember:

• August 15:  Annual meeting at St. Thomas a` Becket church. There will be a speaker from Auberle and we will ask for a donation to be brought to the meeting.
  
  

• September 10 to 12: Please check the website for registration to the LCUSA National Assembly in Miami Florida.

• September 19, 2026: Fest PGH, Highmark Stadium. A project of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. We are hoping to have a Pittsburgh Cookie Table at the event.
