President's Letter, June 2025

Published on 1 June 2025 at 22:34

My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ and our patrons, Saints Vincent de Paul, Louise de Marillac, and Elizabeth Ann Seton, for the past 6 weeks we have been celebrating the Easter season. We have been delighting in the majesty of God. Now we end this season with Pentecost. The goal of Pentecost is mission with the aim that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. The following reflection was taken from SSVPUSA.org.

By this indwelling of the Holy Spirit we ourselves become advocates of God’s presence for others. This gift of the Spirit, then, makes its demands on us. We must monitor the way we live so that others truly see us as advocates of God’s presence bringing new life. This new life that we share with others might be so simple as a reassuring touch or helping hand, or as demanding as giving of our time and money. Living the paschal mystery means that we bask in the good gift of God’s life that the Spirit brings. Pentecost is a celebration of both the gift of the Spirit and the effects of that gift—we are sharers in the one body of Christ who take up Jesus’s mission to preach the good news of salvation. Investiture (May 18, 2025) – Ladies, what a beautiful sight it was as I looked out to the congregation at St. Paul Cathedral. There were 119 new members invested that day and we had a great turnout from our members supporting these women and affirming our ministry. I am extremely proud to be the President of this amazing group of women.

Prayer to the Vincentian Family

Lord Jesus, you who willed to become poor, gives us eyes and a heart directed to the poor. Help us to recognize you in them in their thirst, their hunger, their loneliness, their misfortune. Enkindle within our Vincentian Family unity, simplicity, humility, and the fire of love that burned in St. Vincent DePaul. Strengthen us so that faithful to the practice of these virtues, we may contemplate you and serve you in the person of the poor and may one day be united with you and them in your kingdom. Amen.
